New tech requirements for the 2017 season require collapsible steering columns for ALL cars(To keep the drivers from being skewered on the steering shaft). Has anyone here replaced a 63-64 steering column with a DOT legal unit. Maybe from a 72-80 vintage Avanti II? Or any other collapsible column from some obscure donor vehicle?? You can buy them paintable or chromed and in several lengths and with or without ignition locks. That may be better than a used older steering column in who knows what kind of condition.
