i need to move a '63 300 miles. i have both a car trailer and a tow dolly. the dolly is much easier to deal with but i don't know if towing with the back wheels on the ground WITHOUT removing the driveshaft will damage the powerflight. flat towed many cars many years ago with no problems but that was before the studebaker bug bit me. looking for cold facts here, not an opinion. do any of you guys and/or girls know for sure? thank you.

Either remove the driveshaft or tow it flat on the trailer.  Towing it with the rear wheels on the ground and driveshaft installed will damage the transmission.  The owners and shop manuals tell you that.  If you don't have copies of them plus the parts manual, you would do well to get copies.

Having hauled cars/trucks for many years, hauling on a car trailer is the only way to go. No worry about the tranny and you have far better handling and braking ability (as long as your trailer is equipped).
